Ballymaguigan Roots

The goal of the Ballymaguigan Roots website is to assist each other in the research of our ancestors from the townlands such as; Ballymaguigan, Ballyronan, Ballinderry, etc. areas of Magherafelt in Co Londonderry, Northern Ireland.

This is a private, by invitation only, website that currently has over 200 members and continues to add members with common interest weekly.

Members share news, photos, family history, family trees and official records such as; birth, marriage, and death records that they have accumulated over the years. We do all this and much more with other in a private, password-protected environment.

If your family came from, or still lives in the area, here are just a few of the great reasons why you should consider joining the group

-- Communicate. Be in the loop with what's going on in the research of your Magherafelt family ancestors, even from across the country or world.

-- Share. Easily and quickly share information, from pictures, birth, baptism, marriage, and census records along with news with various family trees of members.

-- We currently have Birth, Baptismal and Marriage records from St. Trea's, Newbridge and St. Patrick's, Ballinderry Chapel along with census and other records too many to mention. All of this can be downloaded to your own computer to view at your leisure.

Don't be surprised if you discover a relative that you never met or even knew existed on this site. It has happen more then once! If nothing else you will meet a great group of people with a common interest "Ballymaguigan".

In June 2004 members from all over the world travelled to Northern Ireland for the group's 3rd annual reunion. Over 250 attended a reunion dinner in the Glenavon House Hotel, Cookstown.

Below is a photograph of Jerry Doyle (our leader) addressing the multitude at the dinner which included members from America, Canada, France, Scotland, England, Ireland and there were even some from Ballymaguigan.

Since this website is password protected so I am unable to give you a direct link here. To become a member of Ballymaguigan Roots, you will have to contact Jerry Doyle at jerry.doyle@sbcglobal.net , and (if he likes you) he might just let you know the password.

Seriously though, this site is a must  for anyone with family connections with Ballymaguigan and/or the surrounding area, so get in touch with Jerry and perhaps you might meet a distant relative on Ballymaguigan Roots
