On the 6th July, my wife Anne, aided and abetted by daughters Denise, Sharon & Paula, grandchildren, family and friends plotted behind my back to organise a surprise 50th birthday party in the Royal Hotel, Cookstown.
My sincere thanks to everyone who helped make the evening (8.00pm-4.30am) such a memorable occasion.
Since it came as a complete surprise I didn't have a camera. Fortunatly my dear friend and fellow Magi, John Bowden, (who travelled 200 miles from Kilkenny for the party) came to the rescue and took the following shots. |
John Bowden, who took all the photographs on this page.
(except this one)
Anne's brothers, Bobby and Carl entertained everyone by providing some of the music
I even got TWO birthday cakes,
As well as the usual cake (the photo on the top is of myself in costume for a film, "God's Frountiersmen") I got one from the grandchildren.
(Notice that there is only one candle, could this be a reminder that I have now reached the age where the candles cost more that the cake?)
